End of Galilaean Ministry
Jesus wasn’t on a mission to be a famous King of Israel. Jesus’ mission was to redeem His children from their sins and to save us from ourselves. Jesus’ brothers thought if He went to the festival and performed miracles for the huge crowd, people would be amazed and impressed, and Jesus would be accepted and popular with the people of Israel. Jesus knew the cross was before Him, that the cross was God’s plan for our redemption and salvation. He knew going to the festival would expose Him to a final confrontation with the rulers of the day. He was fully aware of God’s timing. It wasn’t the right time to reveal God’s glory.
I’ve often thought, “God, what are you thinking?” This stuff in my life isn’t my plan. Why is this happening? I shouldn’t be going through this right now. It’s not the plan I have for my life. And, yet deep in my heart and soul I know His plan is perfect. He unfolds each day of my life. God has me exactly where He wants me. My faith and trust in Him give me hope for eternal glory with Him. I want to follow Jesus all the days of my life, no matter what!
Dear Jesus, keep me from following the crowd and the ways of the world. Only You know what I’ll face today. Each morning for the rest of my life, renew my desire to surrender my day to You and to trust Your perfect timing. Let me be content to live in the moment, knowing You are my Creator, Lord, and Savior. Your never-ending grace is overwhelming, and Your mercies are new every morning. Let my thoughts, words, and actions glorify You. Amen and Halleluiah!
