Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees
In this story in the book of Matthew, Jesus reminds us, through the eyes of the disciples, how quickly we forget about all the ways God has been so faithful to us in the past. He also reminds us that God will continue to fulfill His promises to us in the future. The disciples were worried about feeding the large group of people that had gathered to hear Jesus, and He quickly reminds them of the ways that He has provided for them in the past and how He will continue to do so in the future. Oh, how so quickly I forget God's faithfulness to me, just like the disciples. In those moments of forgetfulness, I can look to the life of Jesus and remember that God is El Roi, the God who sees me, and He is faithful to fulfill His promises to me.
