Week 15 Recap: Days 85-90
Devotion by: Corey Schob
This last week we followed Jesus through some of the days leading up to His crucifixion. Jesus turbo-charged His teachings and miracles in these last days. The disciples must have felt like they were drinking through a fire hose.
We saw God work a miracle in the life of Bartimaeus by curing his blindness.
God changed the heart of Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus ended up giving half of his wealth to the poor and paid back four-fold to the people he had cheated.
Then Jesus demonstrated, by withering a fig tree, that with faith everything is possible. Jesus said that with faith we can just say to the mountain, “May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” and it will be done.
To be in these moments must have been a fantastic experience. Jesus wasn’t doing these things to show off. He wasn’t doing these things to get a rise out of the spectators. He did them because He was instilling faith in the people.
After Jesus healed him, Bartimaeus followed Jesus down the road. After Zacchaeus surrendered himself before Jesus, Jesus said: “Salvation has come to this home today.” These miraculous works were about grace! They were about saving us because Jesus dearly loves us.
For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. - Luke 19:10
